Q 6-1、What are the rules for sending money to the inmate?

A:

  • The type of money to be sent is limited to cash (NTD), draft issued by Chunghwa Post Co., Ltd., and promissory notes issued by other domestic financial institutions.
  • Each person is limited to one individual inmate per day, with a limit of 10,000 yuan (NTD) each time. However, for payment of medical expenses or other special reasons, approved by the head of the agency, this limit is not applicable. If the total amount of custody money kept by the inmate has exceeded 100,000 yuan, the agency may limit the number and amount of sending money.
  • Money can be sent by the designated counter, cash bag (express mail or value - declared mail), draft, or promissory note.
    • Money can be sent by the designated counter:Fill in the application form at the custodian unit of the general affair section, and hand the money and application form to the case officer. Please confirm that the amount is correct when receiving the receipt.
    • Money can be sent by registered mail of cash bag(express mail or value - declared mail), draft, or promissory note:Purchase a cash bag, draft(the name of the payee should be specified), or issue a promissory note(the name of the payee should be specified), and write the name, number, ward, name, and contact phone number of the sender in detail on the envelope, and send it by registered mail. After being counted and signed by the inmate, the receipt of the payment shall be kept by the inmate.

Q 6-2、What are the rules for sending food to the inmate?

A:

  • The types are limited to dishes, fruits, pastries, and biscuits.
  • number of times:
    • The defendant receives it once a day. The inmate receives it every three days. However, if the court or prosecutor has ruled that the defendant is prohibited from being granted the object, the agency will control the object and scope and period prohibited by the court.
    • Outsiders is not allowed to send food to under observation and rehab people. However, when Lunar New Year’s Eve to the fifth day, January 1st to 2nd, Mother’s Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Father’s Day and Mid-Autumn Festival can send food to under observation and rehab people. Please refer to the announcement time on the website of the visit room or the agency’s global information network.
    • Inmates of other statuses shall be handled by the Article 12 provisions of " Outsiders send the money, food, and necessary items to the inmate and the defendant".
  • The way of sending food is limited to the counter designated by the agency.

Q 6-3、What are the rules for sending necessary items to the inmate?

A:

  • Sending necessary items is limited to one individual inmate per person per month. The types and quantity restrictions are as follows: quilts, blankets, sheets, pillows, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and towels, limited to one piece at a time;Clothes, trousers, hats, socks, underwear, limited to three pieces each timeBooks and magazines, limited to three at a timeFifty envelopes, one hundred letter paper, three hundred yuan worth of stamps, three pens, three photos of relatives and friends. Also, glasses and identification documents such as national health insurance certificates shall be sent in according to the actual needs of the inmate.
  • If the quantity of the necessary items to be sent in exceeds the personal life needs, the chief of the agency may restrict or prohibit the sending.
  • The sending method is as follows:
    • When sending in the counter designated by the agency, the identification documents should be checked. The name, ID number, telephone number, address, inmate name and number, and the type and quantity of the items should be registered.
    • If sending approved by the agency, the agency first issues a permit document or logo. When sending items, paste the document or logo on the items.
    • Send in other ways approved by the agency.

Q 6-4、What are the rules for sending necessary items not listed in 6-3 to the inmate?

  • The inmate must fill out an application form and apply to the agency for the following items to be delivered from outsiders:
    • Newspaper or braille.
    • Articles or classics related to religious belief.
    • Items needed for the education counseling treatment.
    • Assistive devices needed for aging, disability, illness, or other life.
    • Food, clothing, and essential supplies needed by the inmate’s children.
    • Medicines that are deemed necessary by the doctor and cannot be obtained from the agency.
    • Other property approved by the head of the agency.
  • The sending method is as follows:
    • When sending in the counter designated by the agency, the identification documents should be checked. The name, ID number, telephone number, address, inmate name and number, and the type and quantity of the items should be registered.
    • If sending approved by the agency, the agency first issues a permit document or logo. When sending items, paste the document or logo on the items.
    • Send in other ways approved by the agency.

Q 6-5、What are the reasons for the agency to refuse people to send money, food, or goods?

A:

In one of the following situations, the agency may restrict or prohibit the sending of money, food, or goods if it is obstructing the order or safety of the agency:

  • Not compliant with time, type, quantity, frequency, procedure, etc. of" Outsiders send the money, food, and necessary items to the inmate and the defendant".
  • The items cannot be inspected, prohibited items are found after inspection, or may deteriorate and become inedible after inspection.
  • The items are perishable, dangerous, harmful, unsuitable custody, or have concerns about obstructing hygiene.
  • The items that are not allowed or unsuitable for entry in accordance with Law of Execution in Prison, Detention Act, or other regulations.
  • There are facts believed to be harmful to the order or safety of the agency.

Q 6-6、Can I send electrical appliances?

A:

Electrical appliances approved by the agency may be applied for and purchased from the agency, and may not be sent from outsiders.

Q 6-7、What are the procedures and precautions for sending packages?

A:

  • The inmate should submit an application and a detailed list to the agency, stating the name and quantity of the product. After approval by the agency, the package details will be sent to designated relatives and friends.
  • Relatives and friends of the inmates can mail or send to counter designated by the agency. The package should conform to the item name and quantity of the list. The list should be pasted on the front of the package to facilitate inspection.
