Q 3-1、Can I buy goods when I enter the correctional agency? Are there restrictions?

A：

• When entering the correctional agency, the money carried should be kept by the agency, and the custody money and labor compensation handbooks shall be given to post the records of shopping and other expenditures.
• The types of items that the inmates apply to the correctional agency for purchasing are classified into "general items" (food items) and "non-general items" (non-food items such as electrical appliances, batteries, quilts, etc.) The sales schedule lists the names and prices, and it will be published in each ward.
• Daily consumption of general items is limited to NT$200 per person (The same below). If the consumption on the day does not reach the upper limit, it cannot be used cumulatively.
• When the consumption amount of non-general items exceeds NT$300 and NT$600, they must be approved by the section assistant of Educational block and the head of the agency.

Q 3-2、How to apply for taking back custody items or money?

A：

• Application method and procedure：
  • The inmate or his relatives apply in person：The inmate or his relatives first fill in the application (name of the item, receiver and reason for use). After approval, hand in relevant certification documents, seals, letter of authorization and check the amount (item, quantity) of the custody money (items). Sign and take back after correctness.
  • Online application：Please use the "Online Application System for Convenient Services of the Ministry of Justice" (URL: http://www.moj.gov.tw/login/login.htm) to apply. After reviewing the relevant certification documents, seals, and copies of letter of authorization, send a letter to notify the applicant to go to the agency to take back the custody money (items).
• The defendant’s application for taking back the custody items shall be processed in accordance with procedure A (A) after approval by the court or Prosecutors Office.
• To apply for taking back the custody money or items, and the inmate is still in the correctional agency, the written consent of the inmate shall be obtained. If the inmate leaves the correctional agency, shall prepare the inmate's letter of authorization and relevant supporting documents.

Q 3-3、What should be done if the inmate has no money to return home?

A：

Before the release of the inmate, if the fare for returning home is insufficient, he can obtain and fill in the "After-Care Application Form" from the agency. After review and approval, fill in the "receipt" and After-Care Association will subsidize the fare. If the person with disabilities and cannot return home on his own, the agency will first contact their relatives and friends to pick him up.
