Restorative Justice × Anti-Fraud Awareness: Summary of the Essay Competition Results
To promote self-reflection and the reconstruction of integrity among inmates, our facility held an essay competition in March 2025 under the theme "Restorative Justice × Anti-Fraud Awareness." Inmates were encouraged to express their understanding of restorative justice through writing and to deeply reflect on the impact of their own actions.
The competition incorporated anti-fraud themes, guiding participants through five key prompts:
“One thing I wish I could say to a fraud victim,”
“The thin line between trust and deception,”
“The cost of deceit — my story with my family,”
“If I could turn back time, what would I choose?”
“Why do people deceive others?”
These topics aimed to encourage inmates to reflect from multiple angles on integrity, trust, and personal responsibility.
Restorative justice emphasizes the offender’s accountability in facing the harm caused to the victim. Through dialogue and understanding, it seeks to mend broken trust and foster emotional and psychological healing. Unlike the traditional punitive model, restorative justice highlights human compassion and trauma recovery, serving as a vital foundation for the reintegration of inmates into society.
During the event, external educators were invited to review the submitted essays and provide constructive feedback. Their insights helped inmates clarify their thoughts, refine their writing skills, and deepen their capacity for self-reflection.
Through this cultural activity, we hope inmates gain valuable insights, recognize the consequences of their actions, and commit to cultivating integrity and taking responsibility for future contributions to society.
